Nant Mithil Public Consultation

Bute Energy is bringing forward proposals for the Nant Mithil Energy Park project, near Llandegley, Powys. They are carrying out an early engagement consultation to find out local views about the project. They're pleased to confirm that the early consultation is now live.

Broadband Project for New Radnor Community Council Area

At the meeting of the Council held on 14th October Members agreed to proceed with a community broadband project for the area. In partnership with the firm Broadway Partners they agreed to write to all residents to assess the amount of interest in obtaining a fibre to the premises broadband connection at no upfront cost. Initially just expressions of interest are sought with no commitment.

Death of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

It is with great sadness that the Council hears of the sad passing of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Chairman, Cllr. Richard Harris said 'Myself as Chairman, all Councillors and the Clerk to the Council are saddened by the passing of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He has been a wonderful Consort and will be missed around the world as well as here in Presteigne and Norton and throughout the UK.'

Community Council Budget Set for 2021-22

At the meeting of the Community Council held on 14th January 2021 the annual budget for 2021-22 was set at £7631. This will produce a Band D precept charge of £32.00 per year.

Council Accounts approved and Notice of Elector's Rights - May 2020

At the meeting held by video conference on 14th May the Council approved the Annual Accounts for 2019-20 and the Annual Return to the External Auditor. Amended dates have been provided by the Audit Wales Office for the inspection of the accounts by any interested person and this notice can be found on the Council website under Community Council then Council Accounts section.

Chairman of Community Council confirmed. First video conferencing meeting.

Cllr Richard Harris was re-elected unanimously as Chairman of the Community Council at the meeting held on 14th May. Cllr. Jenny Hodge was re-elected as Vice-Chairman. The meeting was also important as it was the first Community Council meeting held via video conferencing - by virtue of the coronavirus regulations meetings are currently permitted via video conferencing.

Community Council Precept set for 2020-21

At the meeting held on 9th January Members agreed a budget of £6950 for 2020-21 which will result in a Band D home paying a precept of £29.60 per year. Amounts were allocated to the Snooker Club, New Radnor Carnival Event Insurance, New Radnor Over 60s Club amongst others. For full budget see Council Accounts page.

Garden Waste banks to be removed ....

Garden waste banks at community recycling sites in the county are to be removed over the next two weeks, Powys County Council has said. The banks from 35 community recycling sites are being removed now that the council has introduced its fortnightly kerbside garden waste collection service. To sign up to the new fortnightly garden waste collection service all you need to do is visit www.powys.gov.uk/gardenwaste or call 01597 827 465.

If you have any questions or concerns on how your data is stored and used please contact the Clerk, Tracey Price. A number of people are registered with the Community Council to receive news updates. If you are one of these and you wish to continue to receive emails with news items you must let the Council know by the 24th May by completing the following form and stating you wish to receive emails with Council news and information. The Community Council is delighted to announce that is has recently received two Awards at the annual One Voice Wales Awards Conference. The website received first place, ahead of runners up Cwmbran Community Council. The website also received a Highly Commended Runners up Award in the tourism category.

The Community Council is interested in hearing how it can help in its area with projects etc. Recent projects have included the cleaning of the War Memorial, installation of two defibrillators, the new dog bag dispensers and a Christmas Tree.

Traffic Monitoring - High Street, New Radnor

Following concerns from residents the Community Council requested the temporary installation of traffic monitoring strips between High Street and the A44 junction. Speeds are assessed in relation to the 85% line and for this monitoring was 37.1 mph, considerably in excess of the 30 mph limit.

Defibrillator Update

School: Cabinet now fitted and awaiting electrical connection. Hoped to be completed shortly. Kiosk: Problems with the power supply have delayed full installation but Western Power will be re-connecting asap. They have been told it is an urgent matter.

THREE WEEKLY RUBBISH COLLECTIONS.

The first three weekly waste collections will take place from week beginning 23 November, for households whose last waste collection took place during the week beginning 2 November. Food waste and recycling collections will continue to be collected every week and the collection day will not change. PCC are urging residents to recycle as much of their waste as possible and minimise the amount going to landfill. With support from residents they can meet both their recycling and budget targets.

Refuse Collection change: access dates via Powys website

A new refuse and recycling collection search facility has been launched on the Powys council website which enables residents to enter their postcode, select their address and then be provided with a list of future refuse and recycling collection dates. Residents can use this facility to check and make a note of their future waste collection dates
