New Data Protection Regulations

The Community Council has introduced new policies and documents to control the way it stores and processes personal data. If you have any questions or concerns on how your data please contact the Clerk, Tracey Price. A number of people are registered with the Community Council to receive news updates. If you are one of these and you wish to continue to receive emails with news items you must let the Council know by the 24th May by completing the following form and stating you wish to receive emails with Council news and information. If you do not do so then these emails will cease on 25th May. See GDPR Email Consent Form on the Council Regulations page.

Chairman of Community Council for 2018-19

Cllr Richard Harris was re-elected unanimously as Chairman of the Community Council at the meeting held on 10th May. Cllr. Jenny Hodge was re-elected as Vice-Chairman.

Community Council wins Awards

The Community Council is delighted to announce that is has recently received two Awards at the annual One Voice Wales Awards Conference. The website received first place, ahead of runners up Cwmbran Community Council. The website also received a Highly Commended Runners up Award in the tourism category.

What can the Community Council do for you?

The Community Council is interested in hearing how it can help in its area with projects etc. Recent projects have included the cleaning of the War Memorial, installation of two defibrillators, the new dog bag dispensers and a Christmas Tree.

Traffic Monitoring - High Street, New Radnor

Following concerns from residents the Community Council requested the temporary installation of traffic monitoring strips between High Street and the A44 junction. Speeds are assessed in relation to the 85% line and for this monitoring was 37.1 mph, considerably in excess of the 30 mph limit.

Burial Fees for children to cease in Wales

Burial authorities in Wales will now not charge any fees in relation to the standard burial or cremation of a child, defined for these purposes as a person under the age of 18.

Community Council Precept 2018-19

At the meeting of the Community Council held on 11th January, 2018 a budget of £7660 was agreed. £1000 of this is to be met using Council reserves and a precept of £6660 will therefore be raised via the Council Tax. This will mean a charge of £28.73 on a Band D property, a reduction of £2.13 on the charge for 2017-18.

Defibrillator Update

School: Cabinet now fitted and awaiting electrical connection. Hoped to be completed shortly. Kiosk: Problems with the power supply have delayed full installation but Western Power will be re-connecting asap. They have been told it is an urgent matter.

Defibrillators for Village

Following a successful grant application to the Big Lottery Awards for All Fund two defibrillator units have been purchased for the village, together with the heated cabinets to store the units.

Residents reminded by the County Council that plastic film will not be collected and should not be placed in recycling boxes.

THREE WEEKLY RUBBISH COLLECTIONS.

The first three weekly waste collections will take place from week beginning 23 November, for households whose last waste collection took place during the week beginning 2 November. Food waste and recycling collections will continue to be collected every week and the collection day will not change. PCC are urging residents to recycle as much of their waste as possible and minimise the amount going to landfill. With support from residents they can meet both their recycling and budget targets.

Refuse Collection change: access dates via Powys website

A new refuse and recycling collection search facility has been launched on the Powys council website which enables residents to enter their postcode, select their address and then be provided with a list of future refuse and recycling collection dates. Residents can use this facility to check and make a note of their future waste collection dates
